Why We Should Let God Avenge Us

TOPIC: Why We Should Let God Avenge Us
TEXT: Romans 12:19 - Beloved, never avenge yourselves, but leave it to the wrath of God; for it is written, "Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord." (RSV)

Definitions:
Vengeance  
is judging the people who have offended or hurt someone. It is rendering judgment to an evil doer

BIBLICAL CHARACTERS
:  David – He did not avenge himself when King Saul wanted to Kill him. He hoped for God to avenge him. – 1 Samuel 24:12 - The LORD judge between me and thee, and the LORD avenge me of thee: but mine hand shall not be upon thee.
MEMORY VERSE:
Romans 12:19 - Beloved, never avenge yourselves, but leave it to the wrath of God; for it is written, "Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord." (RSV)
Objective: Help the children learn not to avenge themselves but trust God to do it on their behalf.

Why We Should Let God Avenge Us
1.      He Knows All Our Enemies Even The Ones We Cannot Suspect.
Psalms 35:15 – 16
15 But in mine adversity they rejoiced, and gathered themselves together: yea, the abjects gathered themselves together against me, and I knew it not; they did tear me, and ceased not:
16 With hypocritical mockers in feasts, they gnashed upon me with their teeth.

2.      God Word Commands Us Not To Avenge Ourselves
Romans 12:19 -
Beloved, never avenge yourselves, but leave it to the wrath of God; for it is written, "Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord." (RSV)
BIBLICAL TRUTH: A Christian should never avenge himself or herself – Romans 12:19
CHALLENGE FACTOR:
Do you think it is possible to forgive your enemies and let God avenge you?
POSITIVE CONFESSION: - I will never avenge myself from today. I will let God do it Himself.

TEXT: Acts 14:3 - Long time therefore abode they speaking boldly in the Lord, which gave testimony unto the word of his grace, and granted signs and wonders to be done by their hands.

Definitions:
Bold speaking
is not shouting. It is speaking with Knowledge. It is speaking with authority

BIBLICAL CHARACTERS
:  Peter – He spoke boldly until people notice his boldness Acts 4:13 Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were unlearned and ignorant men, they marvelled; and they took knowledge of them, that they had been with Jesus
MEMORY VERSE:
Proverbs 28:1- The wicked flee when no man pursueth: but the righteous are bold as a lion.
Objective: Help the children learn and understand the power of Speaking Boldly

What Happens When We Speak Boldly
1.      God Confirms Our Speaking With Signs And Wonders
Acts 14:3 - Long time therefore abode they speaking boldly in the Lord, which gave testimony unto the word of his grace, and granted signs and wonders to be done by their hands.

2.      Our Enemies Fear Us And Fall In Our Presence
John 18:6 -
As soon then as he had said unto them, I am he, they went backward, and fell to the ground.

3.      We Are Able To Go To God And Obtain Help From Him
Hebrew  4:16 -
Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.
BIBLICAL TRUTH: A righteous Christian is expected to be bold – Proverbs 28:1
CHALLENGE FACTOR:
When will you begin speaking boldly?

Power Of Prayer And Fasting

TOPIC: Power of Prayer and Fasting
TEXT: 2 Chronicle 7:14 - If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

Definitions:
Fasting =
Skipping meals and worldly pleasures in order to humble your body to seek God in prayers whole heartedly.
Prayer = Two way communication
between Man and God. The man presents his request to God, expecting God to answer back with touchable testimonies.

BIBLICAL CHARACTERS
:  Daniel – He set days to pray and fast trusting God for answers – Daniel 9:3 - And I set my face unto the Lord God, to seek by prayer and supplications, with fasting, and sackcloth, and ashes
MEMORY VERSE:
Matthew 17:21 - However, this kind does not go out except by prayer and fasting. (MKJV)
Objective: Help the children learn and understand the power of Prayer and Fasting

What Happens When We Pray and Fast
1.      Fasting Helps Us to Humble ourselves To Pray
2 Chronicles 14 - If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.
2.      Fasting Breaks Yokes –
Isaiah 58:6
- Is not this the fast that I have chosen? to loose the bands of wickedness, to undo the heavy burdens, and to let the oppressed go free, and that ye break every yoke?
Matthew 17:21 -
However, this kind does not go out except by prayer and fasting. (MKJV)

BIBLICAL TRUTH: Fasting Is Part of a Christian Life – Matthew 6:16
CHALLENGE FACTOR:
How many times are you able to follow the church fasting program?
POSITIVE CONFESSION: - I will try partial fasting for the coming 21 days of fasting.
