Why We Honour Our Parents



TEXT: Ephesians 6:1 - 3
1 Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right.
2 Honour thy father and mother; (which is the first commandment with promise;)
3 That it may be well with thee, and thou mayest live long on the earth.

BIBLICAL CHARACTERS
:  Jesus – Though He was a son of God, He still respected His earthly parents. – Luke 2:51 - And he went down with them and came to Nazareth; and did as he was ordered: and his mother kept all these words in her heart.
MEMORY VERSE:
Colossian 3:20 - Children, obey your parents in all things: for this is well pleasing unto the Lord.
Objective: Help the children learn and understand why it is important to honour and obey their parents.

Why We Have To Honour Our Parents
  1. Because it is a commandment among the Ten Commandments
    Exodus 20:18 - Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee.
