TOPIC: HONOUR YOUR FATHER AND MOTHER

TEXT: Ephesian 6:1 – 3
1.Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right.
2. Honour thy father and mother; (which is the first commandment with promise;)
3. That it may be well with thee, and thou mayest live long on the earth.

BIBLICAL CHARACTERS:  Isaac – He obeyed his father Abraham to a point of accepting to be sacrificed by his father (Genesis 22:2 - 9)

MEMORY VERSE:
  Colossi ans 3:20- Children, obey your parents in all things: for this is well pleasing unto the Lord.

OBJECTIVE: Help the children know the benefits of obeying and honouring their parents.

BENEFITS OF OBEYING AND HOURING OUR PARENTS

1.IT IS WELL PLEASING TO GOD
Colossians 3: 20 - Children, obey your parents in all things: for this is well pleasing unto the Lord.

2.IT IS THE RIGHT THING TO DO.
Ephesians 6:1 - Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right.

3.IT IS A COMMANDMENT (The first commandment with a promise)
Ephesians 6:2 - Honour thy father and mother; (which is the first commandment with promise)

4.IT GUARANTEES LONG AND ENJOYABLE LIFE
Ephesians 6:3 - That it may be well with thee, and thou mayest live long on the earth.

BIBLICAL TRUTH: Obeying and honouring our parents pleases God and brings blessings to our lives

CHALLENGE FACTOR: When did you last honour your parent with a gift? E.g. doing well in school?
 
POSITIVE CONFESSION: - I love my parents and I will prove it by obeying and honouring them.
